Brazil Mission Team 2014 Virginia UMC Conference-
June 23-July 5th, 2014

My name is Carl Gravely and I will be leading the team this year. I first went with a team of Young Adults in late summer 2011 which you can read about here at http://vabrazil2011.blogspot.com
I had a great time and even tried "forgetting to get off the plane" but i eventually was dragged of and continued to think about that moment all year. I then joined up with Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton, VA in the middle of summer 2012 and it was another great time this time in the northern part of Brazil in Recife, Brazil. We helped with construction on a new preschool which is a vision of the shade and fresh water project that the UMC supports.
This year in 2014, we will return to our friends in and around Curitiba Brazil to Participate in:
1) local Young Adult conference
2) Social Projects in and out of the city
3) possible world cup evangelism
4) Brazil Methodist Church Small Groups
5) free time with our hosts and tourism
We depart on June the 23rd with is less than 24 hours after the VA conference. It takes about 24-36 hours to travel to our final destination once all said and done where we will begin our time with our friends, learning and growing spiritually in God''s love.
We are with our friends during the 4th of July but will return that weekend for you to spend time with your family and friends back home here in the states.
If you are hearing God's calling, I urge you to reflect on those voices. If you don't have a passport, signup for one as soon as possible as these take time.
We need to buy plane tickets in early April, which is why the deadline is set as April 1st.
—Total trip cost will be ~$2,300 per person,
—Possible additional cost for participants would be a World Cup game June 26th.
